Persons interested in acupuncture are usually health-conscious individuals uncomfortable about popping a pill for everything. They tend to be interested in natural, holistic, preventative and complementary medicine. Acupuncture has almost no side effects and uses the body's natural energy to heal itself. Acupuncture-by-physician has the advantage of having all the advances of modern medicine as a backup for diagnosis and treatment.

In his book, Mannafast Miracle, Dr. Christian describes how acupuncture was first "discovered" by Americans in 1965. (The term was actually coined by European Jesuit missionaries who first in the 16th century) The famous New York Times reporter, James Reston covering Pres. Nixon's breakthrough trip to China came down with appendicitis. The surgery was performed in Beijing using acupuncture anesthesia only. On his return to the United States, Reston described in a landmark article how he watched the doctors perform the surgery without pain. He recommended that our government seriously look into what was once considered nothing more than some kind of ancient Chinese voodoo.

Acupuncture has been around for over 5000 years. Today, acupuncture is popular in all developed countries where the science has actually been developed technologically far beyond traditional Chinese medicine. Our own government's National Institutes of Health approves of its use in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders. Dr. Christian received his training from the prestigious Helms Institute at Stanford University Medical School in California. He has treated many satisfied patients for chronic pain, migraine, chronic sinusitis, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, nicotine and drug addiction, just to name a few.

Feel free to research acupuncture online. A good starting point is http://www.emedicinehealth.com/medical_acupuncture/page2_em.htm. During the first visit, Dr. Christian spends time to explain how acupuncture works and to reassure  patients that the needles used very tiny and does not hurt anything like a regular shot. Some patients have instant relief of their symptoms, but many require at least 3 to 6 visits depending on how chronic their symptoms have been.

At the Christian Clinic, acupuncture visits cost the same since it involves the same history and physical as in a regular visit.
